Shafat Qazi was the owner of an engineering firm, who grew frustrated wasting valuable time on spreadsheets for his firm's billing, accounting, time tracking, and project management. There was no simple way for him to look at his current projects and understand which ones were on budget, profitable, and how much billable hours were contributed to each project. In 1995, he founded BQE to solve this problem for engineers.
Steven Burns, FAIA opened his own architectural firm in 1993. As the firm began to grow, he became frustrated with the repetitive, mundane work that was required to run the business. This was the birth of ArchiOffice, a software solution that understood the unique needs of the architecture industry and enabled architects to spend more time doing what they love. By 2007, ArchiOffice (and its sister product, EngineerOffice), were in use by over 800 firms, inspiring Steve to sell his own firm and focus full-time on software. In 2009, after BQE acquired ArchiOffice and EngineerOffice, Steve joined the company as Chief Creative Officer. Here he continues to build the CORE platform to help AE firms easily manage projects and maximize productivity.
